Dr Fleur Martin

Dr Fleur is our Clinical Director and graduated from the University of Queensland in 2003. After 3 years in small animal practice in Melbourne and Country Victoria, Fleur moved to Darwin to work for four years.

Fleur loves to travel and has spent time in India volunteering with Vets Beyond Borders in 2008, and hopes to do more of this in the future. Fleur then moved back to her hometown and joined the team at Northside Vet Care in 2013.

While Fleur loves all aspects of general veterinary practice, her main interests are small animal medicine and soft tissue surgery. Fleur is focused on continuing education and enjoys keeping current with the latest advances. Recently she has been on expanding her small animal emergency medicine skills.

In her spare time, Fleur enjoys hiking and pottery. She also loves spending time with her cat name Hairy Mary and her friends and family.

Dr Kayoko (Kayo) Kuroda

Dr Kayo graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 2006. Since completing her degree, she has pursued her twin passions of teaching and clinical practice while working in small animal general practice in Queensland. She obtained Membership in the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (ANZCVS) in Small Animal Dentistry and Oral Surgery in 2018. Dr Kayo has actively involved in as an educator and providing small animal dentistry lectures and workshops in Australia and overseas. Dr Kayo practices complex and advanced dental procedures here at Northside Vet Care, including root canal therapy and orthodontic procedures.

In her spare time, Kayo enjoys travelling and spending time with her partner and feline companion, Jordie.

Dr Barbora Hyklova

Dr. Barbora Hyklova is one of our new vets at Northside Vet Care. She completed her Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery at the University of Edinburgh in 2023, but has grown up in Southeast Asia and the Czech Republic, where she is from. With a Yorkie herself, she cares for all our animals big and small. With the aim to pursue the best for our patients, she is determined to learn all aspects of veterinary medicine, but has particular interests in dermatology, radiographic imaging, dentistry and more. In her spare time, she loves going for runs, hiking, camping and exploring the beautiful places around Brisbane.

Dr Angelika Fontaine

Dr. Angelika is a recent graduate from the University of Queensland, class of 2023, and has joined Northside Vet Care this year. With a strong focus on patient care and surgery, Angelika is committed to staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in veterinary medicine. During her studies, she gained valuable experience working as a vet nurse for two years.

Outside of work, Angelika enjoys spending time with family and friends, often at local cafes. She is also a proud owner of two cats, Jesse and Ziggy.

Dr Lauren Patrick

Dr Lauren grew up on the north side of Brisbane and graduated from the University of Queensland in 2010. She worked in mixed animal practice in Pittsworth for 2 years before returning to a small animal practice in Brisbane and later doing locum work, including a couple of shifts at Northside. In 2016 she and her husband moved to Sydney, taking up locum positions in various clinics and returning again to Brisbane and Northside Vet Care in February 2022.

When not at work she is kept busy looking after two young kids and two old dogs, Hadley and Pip. As a family they enjoy spending time outdoors, picnics, bushwalking and time with family and friends.

 

Mel

Melissa started her vet nursing career in a very large practice in Rockhampton in 2010. She then joined the team at Northside Vet Care in 2013 after moving south to call Brisbane home, and obtained her Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing qualification in 2014. Melissa’s favourite things about being a vet nurse include surgical nursing and patient care. Our hospitalised patients benefit from the time and meticulous attention to detail Melissa gives to their medical care and rehabilitation.

Melissa has a very active and beautiful Staffy called Lana whom she enjoys taking on camping adventures with the family.

Sarah

Sarah joined the Northside Vet Care team in 2018, after 10 years working as a Veterinary Nurse in semi-regional mixed practices.

Sarah has a wealth of knowledge behind her in both small and large animal medicine. She has a keen interest in diagnostic imaging as well as medical and surgical nursing, which our patients benefit from during their time here in clinic. Sarah’s meticulous care, extensive experience and can-do attitude to her work is visible both behind the scenes and with clients.

While not at work, Sarah is busy at home with her partner and pets! Clover the very energetic Kelpie, Bobby McGee the Jack Russel Terrier, a recently hand-raised potty calf named Danny and four horses Princess, Attitude, Pepi and Abbey.

Romina

Veterinary Nurse

Romina’s  fondness for animals started at an early age. During her school years she shared her home with all manner of pets, from furry to feathered and scaly to slimy.

After graduating from University overseas, with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science, she worked in private practice in Argentina before moving to Brisbane. She will be starting the long process of the Australian Veterinary Examination next year. In the meantime, she will be working as a Vet Nurse at Northside Vet Care.

In her spare time, she can be found extending her love of animals to those that live in the ocean as she is an avid scuba diver and passionate about conservation.

Her furry family includes Dexter, the spoiled mama's boy, and Cindy, the trouble-maker girl.

Rachelle

Veterinary Nurse

Rachelle joined the Northside Vet Care team in 2021 and has been nursing since 2020 in small animal practice. Rachelle most enjoys surgerical nursing and has an interest in large dog breeds. 

In fact, she even has own very large Great Dane, Colby, who is quite the handful! 

On her weekends off, Rachelle enjoys spending time at the beach with Colby and her partner. 

Raven

Veterinary Nurse

Raven, originally from Hong Kong, came to Brisbane in 2011 for her studies. She worked as a groomer for seven years before transitioning to nursing. Raven finished her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2020 and started at Northside Vet Care as a groomer in 2018, becoming a vet nurse in 2021.

Raven enjoys taking care of her patients and finds it rewarding to see them recover and reunite with their families. At home, she has two beautiful dogs, Pippa the Bichon Frise and Shiva the Swiss White Shepherd, a domestic short hair cat named Lily, and goldfish named Charlie and Sparkle. She also keeps native bees.

Outside of work, Raven loves spending time with her family, playing beach volleyball, and going on exciting food adventures.

Annie

Annie graduated from veterinary nursing at the end of 2022 and completed her placement at NVC. In 2023, she was thrilled to join our team. Annie's favorite part of nursing is patient care; she finds great joy in comforting animals when their humans can't be with them.

At home, Annie has two wonderful dogs—a blue staffy named Sadie and a cavoodle named Digby. Outside of work, she loves camping and spending time with her friends and family.

Karen

Karen has been a dedicated veterinary nurse for 10 years and remains passionate about her profession. She is constantly amazed by the connection between animals and humans and endeavors to treat patients and clients with care, kindness, and professionalism. In her spare time, Karen enjoys camping and van life adventures with her husband and their border collie.

Belinda

Belinda graduated with a Certificate 3 in Animal Care Services - Pet Grooming from Pet Stylist Academy in the Gold Coast on August 11, 2023. She started as a bather at Northside Vet Clinic on March 23, 2023, and began grooming in August 2023. Belinda enjoys creating Asian fusion muzzles on oodles and giving patients a nice warm bath and scrub so they feel fresh and brand new when they leave the clinic.

At home, Belinda has two pets: Penny, a Cavoodle, and Ella, a Jack Russell Terrier cross. Outside of work, she loves taking her fur babies to the dog park and traveling to the Sunshine Coast to spend time with family.

Chey

Groomer

Chey began her grooming career in 2016 at Petbarn and joined Northside Vet Clinic in early April last year. She enjoys the variety that grooming brings, with each day offering a new bunch of doggies to care for. Chey loves making dogs feel and look beautiful and fresh.

At home, Chey has a spoodle named Charli. In her free time, she enjoys taking Charli to the beach or for walks, as well as spending time with friends and family.
